Cats lolling in the afternoon sun like dinner plates in a warming drawer. A summer banquet of contentment. This was written in 2018, but is going to be part of a larger poem still in progress.
NaPoWriMo Day 28
Lawns start to grow. Neighbors peer over the fence to compare dogwoods, daffodils and errant dandelions. Lawn services appear to spray emergent before thunderstorms wash the chemicals away. Pool guys arrive in vans that say Aloha and Paradise. Clover, a few wild violets are side yard residents quiet and steady as heartbeat.
