Haibun Road Weekly Challenge Week 19

Marathon training plans are generally between fourteen and twenty weeks long. The older I get the more grueling the training. Add in the heat and humidity of Tennessee and some runs just plain suck. The dawn chorus of birds, a lovely sunrise and the satisfaction of another long run complete just keeps me coming back for more even when my usual chant is “I’m never running another marathon.”

Summer of training
Twenty-six point two bestows
Twelve miles to sunrise

Marathon training
The treadmill lights are blinking
Ten miles to nowhere
